Saturday Explorations

Today we did a little sightseeing around Wigton and the Lake District. First headed to Carlisle where Kari got to check out the local Mark & Spencers. A first for her. Looked around Carlisle center before heading to Andrew and Victoria's for lunch. Victoria even made Kari a birthday cake! We headed to the Lake District after that. Stopped by Castlerigg first, which is where the picture was taken. Headed to Keswick (pronounced "kezzik") where we headed out for a walk to Friar's Crag. A stroll around Keswick followed. A beautiful drive home through the Lake District and we were once again back in Wigton for a short rest. Headed to a nearby pub in Caldbeck called Oddfellows Arms. Lots of great food and a pint of Strongbow Hard Cider and the day was complete.

Sunday will bring a short 2.5 mile hike to warm up before the big one. More from that later. Until then, cheerio!!

  2. Mark & Spencer is a very nice variety store. The grocery part is a lot like Trader Joe's but probably a little more upscale. They also have shoes, clothes, furniture, etc. Kari had heard about it but had never been. Glad Kevan was able to help you and that you can follow along and comment. Eric thanks you for the Father's Day wishes. Talk to ya soon!
